Call Center Tips For Your WFH Call Agents

Working from home is becoming more prevalent than ever before because of COVID-19. As such, it’s new ground for many people, most of whom aren’t familiar with the challenges it brings. And as a result of the unfamiliarity, it can be very difficult for people working from home to be productive in their duties.

An office environment undoubtedly promotes a working attitude, which is unfortunately lost on many people when thrust into their home environment. Therefore, it’s important to know how you can improve your work output in this new environment.

Today, we’re focusing on call center agents who work from home. Here, you will learn key tips that are sure to help you find your groove and be productive in your own home.

Be Aware of Your Mental Health

Believe it or not, even the cozy confines of your home aren’t enough to keep you from maintaining optimal mental health. In fact, it can quickly cause you to feel burned out, thus lacking in productivity.

There’s no question that working from home offers lots of convenience for many people. But with this new way of working comes feelings of isolation. As such, it’s important to stay connected to the outside world. Make it a point to schedule meetings and take part in activities outdoors as much as possible.

This will help you find a balance between the isolation of a home call center and the outside world. And as a result, you will notice your mental health improving.

Start Early

Employees may easily be lazy when they are not forced to commute to the office at the beginning of the working day. For people working in the first shift, jumping from lying in bed to the to-do list can be very shocking. Moreover, it’s nice for many people to get a later start rather than getting right to work.

However, starting earlier tends to lead to earlier completion and greater productivity. What’s more, you’re likely to notice that you’re more focused when you get an early jump on your assignments. And as a call center worker, you will be able to serve your customers better throughout the day. This is far better than feeling rushed as you round out your remaining hours of the workday.

Create a Workspace

Do you find yourself set up in different areas of your home throughout the week? Maybe you often set up camp on your kitchen table and work around everything else going on in your home. While this might seem convenient, it’s often anything but.

It’s important to have your own private work area, where you can be away from outside distractions and noises. Make it a point to carve out one area in your home that is reserved solely for your call center work.

You will find that this makes a huge difference in your output each day and is well worth the time and effort you put into setting up a work area.

Take Frequent Breaks

Many call center workers tend to get in the habit of not taking enough breaks. While this might sound just like the opposite of what you would expect from someone working from home, it’s actually easier than you think to get in a zone where you take call after call just to get through the day.

But what happens is that this habit can quickly result in burnout. Your performance suffers, too, leaving you feeling unproductive and stressed out with work in general.

Fortunately, you can combat this trend by taking action and making it a point to take breaks throughout the day. What’s more, you need to make it a point to take them often. In doing so, you won’t feel so wound up, and you will be able to better serve your clients.
